This one REALLY makes me look like a loser

No, really.  What I'm about to say is going to damn me to the Nerdy Nerd Hall of Fame. 

See, I have this *thing* for Ken Jennings.  It's not sexual, so get your heads out of the gutters, perverts.  It's just that I find him fascinating, and sadly, funny.  I think I can honestly say that I didn't see any of his Jeopardy! appearances, but you know, I don't live under a rock.  I knew what was going on while it was going on.  (Actually, I adore Jeopardy, and if it weren't for my legendarily bad coordination, I think I could kick some Jeopardy ass.  I don't watch Jeopardy because it's on at a very bad time in the Chicago market.  I should probably just Tivo it, because I'm pretty sick of 90210 now, and I need something to put on the TV when I get home from work.  It's my best de-stressor.  And at least Jeopardy would feed my mind.)  I'm not sure why I started being interested in Jennings, but it's a recent thing.  I think it's only since he's started blogging that I've started being interested.

I just read his book, which was actually incredibly enjoyable.  I can't help it; the more I read about him, the more he seems like a normal, stand-up kinda guy, the kind you might joke with in the office, or something like that.  Something innocuous.  He just seems so harmlessly self-deprecating, and his worldview is just...funny.  The thing is, he's a Mormon, and while I'd like to stress that I've known at least two other Mormons (that isn't a joke), both of whom were uber-cool, uber-liberal people, I still consider Mormons to be partaking in a delusion that's possibly even worse than other religions (except for Scientology, if you consider that to be a religion) because hello?  Mormons believe things that are patently, completely disproven.  And those things they believe in?  They're very, very laughably weird.  I'm not trying to disparage Ken Jennings, (or the rest of you uber-cool Mormons!) but it's not quite working right in my head, the whole idol-worship of a guy who clearly gets facts, and yet....doesn't get them.

Now, if I've alienated enough people, either because they're Mormon, or because they're scared of me because I really enjoy Ken Jennings, I'm going to go back to lamely browsing the internet, and likely end up reading lots of NFL gossip and opinion articles.  (What do YOU think of the Thomas Jones trade?  How about the Lance Briggs stunt?)  Yes.  Yes I am a loser.  And I kind of like it.

SUPERGROUP

VH1, as we all know, makes some of the best worst television.  For instance, I Love the 80's and that breed of show is terrifyingly bad in its construction, but somehow compulsively watchable.  I will readily admit to watching each episode multiple times, if only because there isn't anything else on the television.  I mean, shit, S and I even watched the two-part horror that was I Love Toys. 

To that end, I find myself obsessed with Supergroup, VH1's "metal" celebreality vehicle.  This can be explained by two things: a) I ADORE Sebastian Bach and b) I ADORE Scott Ian.  How these two men came to be on the same reality show I'll never know, but it's like a Rock-God fest for me.  I'm pretty sure that I could (and will) watch each episode multiple times, just so I can see those two men in action.

And let's be honest, Sebastian Bach is an odious creature.  He's really kind of a sexist jerk, actually, but there's something about his puppy-like eagerness to be liked that I can't get enough of.  I love him on Gilmore, and I love him in real life.  Now, Scott Ian, on the other hand, seems to be somewhat of an intellectual.  I may be wrong, but that's how it seems.  He even said that he didn't understand the point of strip clubs, which wins him many, many points in my book.  Sure, his beard is ugly, and I hate Anthrax, but if you put Scott Ian in front of me right now, I just might fawn all over him.

In fact, Bach and Ian mitigate the horrorocity of the Nuge and that Evan dude who is married to Tera Patrick and makes all kinds of porn.  Jason Bonham is a non-entity at this point, because he's maybe said five words in the entire hour we've watched.  Anyway, why would you want to be a drummer if your father was the best rock drummer that ever lived?  I mean, sure, Ringo Starr's kid, yeah, be a drummer.  But when your dad is John Bonham, you might want to pick a different instrument. 

Regardless, I know where I'll be on Sunday night (okay, I'll actually be at my little brother's graduation party).  But symbolically, I've got my ass planted in front of the TV watching Bach and Ian prance around Las Vegas.

I am a bad, bad girl

Dammit.  I hate working.  I hate working mostly because I'm dying to blog about work and I don't think it's a good idea.  Some of the people here are practically begging for a blog write-up.  My fingers are itching to write about it.

I'm dying, here.  My brain is spitting out pithy sentences by the pageful and I have nowhere to put them!  This is torture, people.  Torture.

This Just In

I am a charter member of the "I Hate Jennifer Garner" club.  Really.

But it's the damndest thing.  I'm watching her on Ellen right now and I want to be her best friend.  I guess I've never seen her in an interview, only in the bad movies she's been in (and I certainly don't watch Alias; I hate Jennifer Garner, after all.), so I was maybe a tad bit unprepared for her laugh.  She's got the cutest little laugh. 

All I'm saying is, maybe I'll be easing back from my membership in the club.

ANTM Madness

Whenever there is an America's Next Top Model marathon on Vh1, I have to watch.  I pretend not to want to, but the truth is, I'll reject any show that is far better than it just to watch the dishy goodness.  I nonchalantly flip through the guide, pretending to consider something on the travel channel, or the history channel, but inside, I know I'm going straight back to Vh1.  I think I've seen these episodes three million times, and yet, I can't stop watching.  The only season that I really haven't seen is the second, because I always miss those episodes in the marathon.  Right now, the last season is on, the one that Naima won.  I liked Naima, even if it was cliche to like her.

Furthermore, this season starts this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I think that the first night is a sort of "Where are they now?" thingy, and Wednesday is the actual premiere.  I'm very excited.  Almost more excited than I was for the OC, and that's saying something.  How pathetic.
