Foods I haven't eaten that I would like to:
- Banh-mi. I'm nervous about a sandwich that packs so much cilantro, but I still really want to try one of these.
- Pork Belly. I'm also nervous about this; the fatty texture of pork belly seems like it can't be good. But people love it, so I'm willing to try it.
- Dim Sum. I think it would be very fun to eat real dim sum, as it's meant to be eaten. I've never eaten anything like it. An adventure!
- Cheese that I make, in my own kitchen. I've long been fascinated with the idea of making my own soft white cheese, and someday, I will!
- Korean food. Have never eaten it; love the idea of the places where you grill your own food over a little grill in the middle of the table.
- African. I know that's broad (you know, a whole continent!) category, but I've never eaten any African food. I think the two most accessible cuisines (in terms of what's in Chicago) are Moroccan and Ethiopian. I should get to one of these places. Pronto.
- Fondue. I've never actually eaten fondue. I'm not sure I'd like it, especially if there is nutmeg in the cheese (ewwww), but it's worth a try.
- Bison. Probably a steak would be best. I'm interested.
- Lobster. I've never actually had lobster tail. You know, the stuff they bring to your table in its shell. You dip it in butter. I've had lobster bisque. I ate some bites of lobster ceviche in Vegas. But never just...lobster.
I'm sure there's more. That's what pops into my head at this moment.
Restaurants I would really like to eat in, just once:
- Alinea
- French Laundry.
- Momofuku
- Le Bernardin
- Pizzeria Mozza
- Chez Panisse
For Ethiopian -- check out the Ethiopian Diamond in Edgewater. It's fantastic!!
