I'm playing it, yep. Due to the snow/weather/travel times, I decided to not go to work today. Last time it snowed bad during a rush hour, it took me 2 hours. Today, on the Eisenhower, the travel time out was 2 hours 32 min, which means it would have probably taken me 3 hours. No thank you. I figure since I went in on the last snow day (as opposed to a majority of the staff), I can stay home today.
Actually, I drove S to work today, and a trip that normally takes about 15 min took 40. (Round trip, not one-way.) I'm sure that if I worked in the city, it wouldn't be quite as hard to make it to work. But three hours? That's at least four hours of travel, if the drive home only takes an hour. And that means I have to stay extra late at work because I've gotta work 7.5 hours. I did have a book group scheduled tonight, but it seems like it's more practical to cancel it and reschedule. Morever, classes are cancelled at my employer today, so I'm quite sure the library would have been slow.
Can you tell I feel guilty? Because I do feel guilty. I shouldn't, but I do. Still, I made the decision for safety and less stress, hoping that it pays off during the rest of the week, when I feel stressed by everything going on.
Enh. I'm going to cook vegetable soup tonight, I think.
