It took me two hours to get to work this morning, which actually isn't that bad, considering how idiotic people are when a little snow is falling. I felt very safe, which is entirely due to my new tires. They're awesome.
But actually, the worst roads I encountered where in the town that I work in, and those roads were horrific. The rest, not so bad. In the city, things were fine. Although, five minutes after I got on LSD going south, something must have happened, because I saw from reports that there was an incident there at 6:14 am. I did see lots of cars pulled over, but most of them just looked broken. I also saw a car in a ditch, but whether that was from earlier in the morning or the rush hour commute, I can't say. Why do more cars die in the snow? Because I've never seen anyone being jumped on the expressway at 6:30 am, and I saw that happening at least twice this morning.
Anyway, I'm thinking of trying North Ave. for my next snow commute, though that might be worse. Only way to know is to try it. I did leave work early, mostly because I knew traffic would be hellish later, and there was NO one in the library. Classes weren't cancelled, but I'm guessing professors individually cancelled classes, because work was SLOW.
All in all, it wasn't so bad. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about the rest of this winter.
