Yeah, it was okay. Not as good as Best in Show, certainly. But better than that last folk one.
No, the real event tonight was seeing my prom date walk into the theater. I had wondered if I would see someone I knew (just because you never know, in a city this big), and sure enough, in walks the prom date. It was weird. It would have been weirder if he and his friend had sat next to us, but thankfully, another couple snapped up the seats before he could. But he did recognize me, and we sort of caught up after the movie. Still, that was almost ten years ago (ten years ago May! God, I feel old.), and I really haven't seen him much since then. I had a huge crush on him, which I got over pretty fast because he was head over heels for my best friend (suckiest high school situation ever; now it just seems like something I should laugh about) and she was liking him too.
He's different. A little older, a little more...polished? Although, he was always smooth. He was a charmer, and those charmers, they're one of my weaknesses. I don't know, maybe he seems more urbane, more sophisticated. In kind of a....way that denotes some sort of pretension with a hint of ennui. I don't know that he'd ever met S, so that was interesting. It wasn't a long enough conversation to get any but the most superficial aspects of both our lives, and he really didn't speak with S at all. It was just a chance encounter with a lot of history behind it, I suppose.
Weird. I'm humming "Small World" right now.
