A few months ago, I decided that no matter what, I was going to sleep 8 hours every night. Even if it meant getting up at 6:30 am. And for the most part, that's been realized. (The exceptions happened during our weekend in Cleveland. I slept way less than 8 hours a night, due to horrible pillows and uncomfortable surroundings.) I have to admit that I wasn't sure if I could actually do it, because even a few months ago, the thought of getting up at 7 on my day off made me shudder. But it feels absolutely fantastic. My body is READY to get up after 8 hours of sleep. I never feel sleep deprived.
I do get tired--depending on my day--but I usually force myself to stay up to a time that will allow me to wake up later than 6. Most of the time, however, I feel ready for bed when it's time for bed, and I feel refreshed when I wake up. I can't imagine NOT living this way now. (Even if it does make me an old lady on work nights.)
So yeah. I highly recommend it. Eight hours a night. It might change your life.
