Does the Oscars really need a full day of hype, including stories about "coture cosmetics" and Shanna Moakler in her low-cut party dress?

Apparently.  And apparently, I need to watch such things.  At least now the actual celebs are arriving, and I can cattily comment about their dresses.  (For instance, Rachel Weisz' dress looks like a high school home ec student added the sleeves at the last minute.  Keira Knightley's necklace looks like it's made of fish eyeballs.  And so on.)  I can't wait until S stops listening to "World Wide Suicide" on repeat, because then he'll hear all the witty things I say.

I'll blog later about the show, the dinner experiment currently in process, and the kitchen disaster that happened during the preparation of said experiment.
