I think I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't like Stephen Colbert, or his new show, The Colbare Repore. I know that he's good--I can see how well he's spoofing O'Reilly and Olbermann and their ilk. But he makes me want to bang my head against a wall, just so I can get the sound of his voice out of my head.
I'm not sure what it is. I just hate the way he treats guests, even though I know it's part of the schtick. (S really likes the show, but it is so noxious to me that I simply can't be around when it's on. Poor S, never get to watch the show.) Maybe he's just too good at what he does, and he's too much like O'Reilly for comfort. I hate that man, and I don't want to watch anyone like him, even if it's supposed to be funny. On the other hand, I hated Cobert when he was still on the Daily Show. His interviews made me cringe, and his smarmy personality made me want to puke. Okay, that's a slight exaggeration. But it is true that for the longest time, I refused to watch the Daily Show, because I couldn't stand the spoofy news segments done by the correspondents. I'm over that now, mostly because I just tune out those segments (I still hate them), but also because S loves to watch it, and I have a slight crush on Jon Stewart. (Who doesn't, I ask you.)
Regardless, and despite all the praise heaped on him for his new, super-smart show, I will never be a Stephen Colbert fan.
shame on you for depriving S of the cobert report. it's great show.
