-because I believe in women
-because rape is "her fault"
-because a professor said once that "Women have to be afraid every day and night that they're alone" at a goddamn woman's college
-because vagina is still a swear word
-because I owe it to my mother to continue to fight
-because the media is full of "breakable, takeable" toothpicks of women
-because women are still expected to at least take their husband's name upon marriage and their father's name at their birth
-because society is inherently patriarchal
-because I want to work in a field that is woman-dominated, and consequently, under-valued
-because the US continues to ignore human rights abuses, especially against women, in countries that are our "allies" but trumpets the good they're doing in Afghanistan for women
-because men can work and have a family and be great fathers, but women who have a job and a family are less of a mother and less of an employee
-because women do horrible things to themselves to escape their lives, and it has to stop somewhere
-because I appreciate every woman in my life
