to brightening your day. I was sort of down this morning (though working out always makes me feel somewhat better) and it took me a long time to get myself going. However, two things cheered me up:
- One of my friends, who I won't out, told me a story, that while sad, also made me feel happy. He told me that his cell phone got run over by a car! Now, this is terrible. It's expensive and undesirable, to say the least. He had to replace it, of course, and ended up shelling out for a new one. Still though, the thought of his cell phone getting crunched is happy in a sort of rueful-smile-of-pain way. I mean, the thought is mildly funny. But mildly depressing too. And I really do mourn his loss. I asked him if he had had a funeral service, and the answer was no, but that he might consider it.
- I went to the tailor. The tailor was an old Italian man. His accent was extremely stereotypically Italian, and he was a charmer. He loved my pants, he loved my shoes (boy, did he love my shoes) and he tried to pull my pants up to my boobs, practically, to make them "fit better." I pulled them down again and he felt awful, so he tried to apologize, while butchering the word apologize. It was darling. And then when I asked when I could pick them up, he asked me when I would need them, and laughed when I told him next Friday. He said, "And what would you think of Wednesday, young lady?" Which is a term that normally makes me want to maim the man who uses it, but oh, he was so cute. And then when I told him my name, he laughed and said, "I know how to spell that!" I must have looked skeptical when he said it (though I wasn't) because he said, "NO, I really do know how to spell that." I left charmed and happy.
